I’ve thought a lot about the most rejected part of people, which is where Chiron falls in your birth chart. It’s something I’ve explored before but never so deeply. I’m going to talk below about Chiron in Gemini, and then give you some amazing resources that you can use to read about yours. It’s interesting because if you have friends or partners or children or family you can look up theirs too, and it creates a way for us all to understand each other better. For reference, you can go to this website and look up your birth chart - be sure to click on Extended Settings under the Calculate chart button, and under House system dropdown, change it from Placidus to Whole Sign. After you generate your chart, find the symbol that looks like a key and check the sign and house that it is in. See the sample chart below - this person has their Chiron in Taurus in the 11th house. I won’t be talking about houses but you can still note yours so you can use the resources at the end of article accordingly.
It makes sense that the Chiron symbol comes in the form of a key since it really is a key to a door that when opened can reveal why you’ve suffered, but also something hidden, a gift that belongs to only you - like a superpower. It hurt like hell growing up and it can still get triggered if you haven’t worked through it. Chiron could be about self-esteem, communication, control, our natural gifts, or our identity to name a few. Becoming aware of what it is particularly for you is a big deal, because you may say well I have a lot of problems not just one and none of them are superpowers. But there is one that stands out from the rest and if you look closely you can find how it makes you special.
Chiron in Gemini
If this is yours, they call it the wound of words. This has to do with verbal expression, non-verbal expression, and perception. You may be able to see and hear things other people can’t. As a child you may not have received the nurturing needed around those parts of you and it made you unable to trust your thoughts and feelings due to constant rejection. For example a child may be given a pink slip every week for talking too much in class. The child receives the message that their authentic self-expression has negative consequences and is looked down upon. This is solidified if the parents abuse the child each time after receiving the pink slip. Abuse always occurs to stop people from doing something so the child receives another message that authentic expression must be stopped at all costs and warrants them being harmed. Experiences like this may have not made it easy to develop a voice or you lost your voice, when this was the most beautiful part of you.
Failed self-expression through the body such as the way you dress or dye your hair, or through feelings is also included here and most likely you received rejection for any of the way you tried to do that for the better part of your life. Also criticism for how you use your voice so it causes you to compare yourself to others. “You sound stupid” or “you’re an idiot” leading to “everyone is smarter than me and I will never able to catch up” when in reality you have a unique perception to share with the world. Many famous rappers have this placement because they can communicate in a different way and lyricize their unique point of view - it’s what sets them apart. I have read that there is usually a mediumistic or psychic ability present in you, a way to communicate with other dimensions and to bring that through whichever modality you choose.
Lana Del Rey has her Chiron in Gemini and I think about this often. From what is known publicly, the lowest point of her career was when she performed on SNL in January of 2012. She was criticized for her singing voice, stage presence and overall performance. They questioned her authenticity and the way she presented - like her hair, her clothes, etc. They didn’t really understand her music and assumed she was just some “brainless beauty queen.” Later as she continued to create more albums people accused her of glamorizing abuse. In reality what she’s really talented in is expressing her own perception of taboo truths, and most people can’t understand her language, or that form of intelligence.
Similarly, you may have a long history of being misunderstood which can lead to low self worth. People think one thing about you, but it’s completely untrue, but you internalize it because it’s your deepest wound. I can remember going on a job interview in my mid 20s. I was so proud of having my raw, emotional poetry and short story published for the first time by a journal after sending my work to over 200 of them, that I put the link to it on my resume under “Published works.” The man interviewing me had looked into it and decided to use a large part of the interview to shame me around how I expressed myself creatively. He also tried to convince me that it was unacceptable, “disgusting” work. And the position I applied for had nothing to do with creativity at all. This is yet another way this wound can show up.
The gift: you are here to work on embracing the truth of your thoughts and feelings about yourself and the world so that you can make this superpower visible through self-expression.
Resources
The following resources are not just interpretations of each placement but explain how to tend to this so you are triggered less, which can offer a huge relief. Some explain the hidden gift in the wound. It really brings to mind Holly Macve’s lyric, it’s not for nothing, this life, and I know this when I look in your eyes. Your eyes being your own, when you look in the mirror every day, you understand and know you’re here for a reason, there is a reason to live. It’s not all about endless suffering.
This is a convenient calendar someone created for when Chiron entered each sign in each year since 1926. If you know your person’s birthday, you can easily find out theirs you just won’t be able to know the house it falls into without their birth chart, but you’ll learn a lot regardless by knowing the sign. I’ve never seen my parents’ birth chart but I know their Chiron signs, and it has helped me see them differently.
