Sometimes we have to enter our own cave to come back out of the other side and see the world in a completely different way. This past week required such an endeavor of me. Kim Krans writes, if you were an old sage living in a cave, what amenities would you need? These are mine: water, pens, notebooks, a blanket, flowers and a few books. I love this video by April Peladeau about the Cave archetype card.
I spent most of the week in my cave, but this weekend I visited New Hampshire with my partner and so much came out of this trip that I am grateful for. Traveling always seems to reset me, and especially with the Full Moon in Aquarius, it helped me see the bigger picture, which Aquarius encourages us all to do.
I’ve been dying to try using Chicory root as a substitute for my coffee - coffee makes me anxious, wide awake into the night, and way too hyper. When I spotted Chicory root on the shelf at Shadow and Soul Emporium & Tea Lounge in Keene, NH, I immediately grabbed a bag.
I recently watched Jennifer Kurdyla create her own version of “coffee” with dandelion root, cacao, ginger and cardamom (with rose petals on top) but I can’t do chocolate so I tried her version with Chicory root and it tastes incredibly similar to coffee. Soak some dandelion root and chicory root granules in hot water, strain, and you’re good to go (or get the instant version). I added some light cream and it was a dream. I am officially never having coffee on a daily basis again lol.
They had such an impressive herb bar.
And while we were there I found out the place does themed tea parties monthly and this month’s theme was Beetlejuice. Due to this fact in the corner I found a sandworm pop and bought two (it tasted great). Before we left since this was a tea lounge I had to get some so I opted for an iced Lavender Sunset tea (lavender, sunflowers) with milk and honey, which tasted amazing. Their tea selection was just as expansive as their herb bar! If you ever get the chance, visit this gem of a place for a truly unique spiritual experience.
